2. Information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

• vehicle enquiry, viewing, test-drive and part-exchange information;
• identity, payment, invoice and transaction records needed to buy or sell a vehicle;
• communications with us and notes relevant to your enquiry or purchase;
• vehicle registration, ownership and history information where relevant;
• technical information about your visit to our website, including IP address, browser, device and cookie information.

We normally collect information directly from you. We may also receive information from vehicle-history providers, auction or trade platforms, payment and finance providers, public records, professional advisers or another person acting with your authority.

3. Why we use it and our lawful bases

• To answer enquiries, arrange appointments and take steps towards a sale: necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to customers.
• To sell, purchase or part-exchange a vehicle and manage payment and delivery: necessary for our contract with you.
• To keep invoices, accounting and compliance records: necessary to comply with legal obligations.
• To prevent fraud, protect our business and deal with complaints or legal claims: our legitimate interests and, where applicable, legal obligations.
• To operate, secure and improve the website: our legitimate interests, with consent used for non-essential cookies where required.
• To send optional marketing: your consent, or another lawful basis permitted by electronic marketing law. You can opt out at any time.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and expectations.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only where reasonably necessary, including with website, email, form, payment and IT service providers; accountants, insurers, warranty or finance providers selected for a transaction; vehicle-history and identity-check providers; professional advisers; and courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or the DVLA where required or permitted by law. We do not sell personal information.

5. International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we use providers and safeguards recognised by UK data-protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

6. How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed. Enquiries that do not lead to a transaction are normally retained for up to 24 months. Sales, purchase, invoice and accounting records are normally retained for at least six years after the relevant accounting period, or longer where law, warranty, complaint or legal-claim requirements make that necessary. Marketing preferences are kept until you opt out or the data is no longer useful.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, transfer of information, or to object to processing. You may withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. These rights are not absolute and legal exceptions may apply.
